Meck Connect
Role: Lead Designer
When the team at Sherry Matthews approached me about creating a series of transit maps for the City of Charlotte, I probably shouted “YES!” before they could finish the sentence. I love maps. I especially love transit maps. Having grown up in the Washington, DC area, the Metro map is so ingrained in my subconscious, I can probably draw it from memory. I jumped at the opportunity make my own version.
These maps were part of a campaign to sell Mecklenberg County voters on a ballot proposal to expand their transit system. It was a lot of information, so simplifying as much as possible, creating a clear hierarchy, and only including the most pertinent information were critical to the maps being readable.
In November of 2025, voters in Mecklenberg County went to the polls and approved the Meck Connect Plan.
